How to get break into the entertainment industry in Marketing?

I have a diploma in Computer Systems, and one in digital media/game design. I’ve done some websites, a bit of graphics, video and audio editing, and Flash games.

I’m currently living in my hometown (I’m in Canada) attending college in Marketing/PR/Business, and really want to do Marketing or PR in the entertainment industry when I graduate in 2 years. However, the city I live in doesn’t have too many opportunities dealing with entertainment industry, and I’ve been doing research now on the companies I want to work for. I’m very willing to move too.

My question is how to I break into the industry in Marketing? Are there any websites (other than entertainmentcareers.net), networking events, volunteer opportunities, job fairs, newsletters, internships or anything that can get my foot in the door? or at least get myself some contacts? Or anything?

I appreciate it if anyone of you can help me out. This has always been a passion and a dream of mine that I want to achieve. Thx.

How many jobs are available in Montréal for English speaking residents?

So I currently live in Massachusetts, USA and want to move to Montréal once I graduate from university.

I am studying French and my family is French Canadian from New Brunswick, but I have a hard time learning languages, so I’m not really fluent. I am hoping to study in France for a semester next year which hopefully will help me become fluent.

In the event that I am not fully fluent in French, what’s the likelihood that I could find a good job? Specifically I’d like to go into a TV/video production field or digital marketing. Regardless of position though, is there a good selection of English jobs in the city or are they primarily smaller retail jobs only?

(I’m already a citizen so that’s not a problem)
Eventually I’ll be able to speak the language fluently once I am there, I tend to pick up things real quick… when I was in France for two weeks I could pretty much speak French except for more detailed things. So it’s just a matter of time, and I won’t be able to get an apartment until I get a job, so more than likely my French will be so-so before I can get immersed into the language. I do plan on learning the language fully though.

How much would you get paid for a marketing job with a degree but no work experience?

T-Mobile and Apple are good companies to work for marketing but how much do they pay you and do they give you the job once you finnish school. I was wondering if finishing high school in 3 years and getting the degree in 3 years would be worth it because I would be 2 years at advance and earn a salary of 2 years early. But would I be making more compared to Finishing high school and college on time and working part time in the entry level for 6 years. 16-22 yrs old if graduated in 4 years.

Anyone know of a good mobile window tinter in the LA/LAX area?

Looking to get my car windows tinted with at least a 5-year warranty. Would prefer to hear from someone who has had their windows done by the company they are referring.

It looks like all after-market tints will peel after 5-10 years no matter what, so, it’s gonna happen, but I do not want those gross bubbles in my windows anytime soon!

Because of work and school need a mobile tinter who can come to my job or school and not tie me up in a shop.

Alternate energy = lost jobs?

Here is what I was thinking. It’s possible that companies like Exxon Mobile would receive less profit by the spread of alternate energy therefore causing the loss of 30% of the workforce. So if they employ about 150, 000 workers, that’s 45, 000 lost jobs.

However, if products became cheaper over all, that would boost production of items and also make it cheaper to buy a house, higher manual labor to build houses, make it cheaper to start businesses for those interested and probably just everything is cheaper. Perhaps with the increase of item production, more people in those factories and so forth are required? And carpentry increase because people would be starting more business or making new constructions since those things would be cheaper? Also, an increase in skills and expertise for making components of these magnetic motors? Increase in jobs to keep maintenance around magnetic motors in-case something goes wrong?

Not only that, the electricity bill would be practically nothing. So, if you own a house, you don’t have to pay these bills. Just perhaps water. Water bill may be very cheap as they don’t use gas to pump.

I was looking at the magnetic motor for perpetual motion that doesn’t require a fuel of any sort, just magnets.

Perhaps it would cause job loss but also create other possibilities. With the lack of dependency on oil, we won’t have to worry about the north pole or the south pole melting and drowning half the world. We won’t have to worry about things like cap and trade, taxing our carbon emissions. Also, Our mobility would increase, imagine paying only 50 dollars a flight from here to somewhere across the world. Perhaps a little more.

The mobile industry would see an increase in terms of flight. If flight is cheap, they’d probably be building a lot more aircrafts because it is so cheap to fly, a lot of people would be flying. Thus an increase in the aircraft building and safety job market? The technological job market would probably increase 10 fold.

Basically, the types of jobs I am seeing would increase so far are the technology jobs and the carpentry.

Is it nut-baggish to want alternative sources of energy? If anything, you are nut-baggish for wanting to drill Alaska… Alaska is where all a lot of the ice is… therefore, you’d be creating a lot of ozone gases that would destroy the atmosphere directly above the ice country…. Melting it faster…

Plus possible oil spills up from alaska when they use ships to ship the barrels. Alaska has a lot of resources in fish. You will jack up Alaska.

How much is huge amounts of money and resources? Replacing a gas powered engine or turbine for I’d say 5 electric facilities with a magnetic one would cost less than the supplies needed to higher and drill Alaska. Plus it would cause less impact damage on the environment. Who knows how many fishes and world food supplies would be poisoned due to the drilling.

Also, we wouldn’t risk melting the ice. I’m pretty sure I saw a presidential candidate named Boehner state that he wanted to drill Alaska so it is curious what you say.
